Nicole on the News & Popcorn Recipe

A few weeks ago I was intereviewed for a news segment on BPA-free baby bottles. The segment aired yesterday. Here's the link to the article. To see the video clip, click on the video to the right of the article: http://wbztv.com/health/baby.bottles.bpa.2.650465.html.

So, I recently discovered this great recipe for "do-it-yourself," microwave popcorn. It's not only SUPER easy but's it's SUPER cheap and you don't have to worry about chemicals in the popcorn bag. It's also fun to make with your kids (3-4 years or older). The recipe comes from Alton Brown on the Food Network Channel. Click here for the direct link or just see below:

Ingredients:
1/4 cup good quality popcorn
2 teaspoons olive oil
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt or popcorn salt
Paper lunch bag
Stapler

Directions:
Toss the popcorn with the olive oil, and salt in the paper bag. Fold the top of the bag over and staple the bag twice to close (the staple will NOT be affected in the microwave). Place the bag in the microwave and microwave on high for 2 minutes to 3 minutes, or until there are about 5 seconds between pops. I found that my "popcorn" button is perfect for this.

NOTE: Popcorn salt is a super-fine salt that is designed especially for sticking to food such as popcorn. It has the taste of regular table salt, but its granules are much finer. You can also make your oen by putting Kosher salt in a coffee grinder. Also, you can use other "seasonings" to add to your bag before popping - ranch dressing powder is a yummy one!

Now go watch a movie and enjoy some popcorn!
