Rice Cereal - Yum Yum!

Sunday we gave Lily rice cereal for the first time (and a few bites of banana). She loved it! Big sister Zoe was thrilled to finally be able to feed her sister.

Lily is 5 Months Old!

Yesterday, Lily turned five months old. I know I say this in almost every blog entry, but I can't believe how fast time flies. I spent a little time taking some photos of Lily and have posted a few here on the blog and some in a Smugmug album. Click below for all the photos and, as usual, password is "guest." Some of the photos need to be rotated...I'll try to do that later...gotta run.

February Fun!

Hi all....we have had lots of fun this month and I've been taking lots of photos of the girls. Lily will be 5 months this week and it's just so hard for me to believe it. It trully feels like I just had her. Why does the time have to go by so fast?

Lily's personality is really blooming. She is such a laid back, happy baby. She smiles a lot and absolutely LOVES her big sister. She lights up when Zoe is around and Zoe is the one that can make Lily crack up laughing. Oh, how precious it is to see.

Zoe will be turning 4 in a few weeks. Again, where does the time go? She is such a beautiful, fun loving, caring child. She amazes me with her maturity and I'm excited to see how she grows this year.

So now to what we've been up to...

Today, it was warm and rainy. After the rainfall, I took the girls outside. Zoe played in the puddles and then discovered a dead caterpillar. Of course she asked me to touch the caterpillar (oh, the things we do for our kiddos!). We named the caterpillar Katie and Zoe made a home for her in the leftover snow. Then she moved it to a puddle in the driveway and kept adding water to it. May Katie rest in peace now.

Tonight the girls had their first bath together. They both had a blast and I got some great photos for the memory books.

Finally, the big news to report is that Steven has a new job! He's now working as Director of Business Development for IQeye. Congrats Steven!

Nicole on the News & Popcorn Recipe

A few weeks ago I was intereviewed for a news segment on BPA-free baby bottles. The segment aired yesterday. Here's the link to the article. To see the video clip, click on the video to the right of the article: http://wbztv.com/health/baby.bottles.bpa.2.650465.html.

So, I recently discovered this great recipe for "do-it-yourself," microwave popcorn. It's not only SUPER easy but's it's SUPER cheap and you don't have to worry about chemicals in the popcorn bag. It's also fun to make with your kids (3-4 years or older). The recipe comes from Alton Brown on the Food Network Channel. Click here for the direct link or just see below:

Ingredients:
1/4 cup good quality popcorn
2 teaspoons olive oil
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt or popcorn salt
Paper lunch bag
Stapler

Directions:
Toss the popcorn with the olive oil, and salt in the paper bag. Fold the top of the bag over and staple the bag twice to close (the staple will NOT be affected in the microwave). Place the bag in the microwave and microwave on high for 2 minutes to 3 minutes, or until there are about 5 seconds between pops. I found that my "popcorn" button is perfect for this.

NOTE: Popcorn salt is a super-fine salt that is designed especially for sticking to food such as popcorn. It has the taste of regular table salt, but its granules are much finer. You can also make your oen by putting Kosher salt in a coffee grinder. Also, you can use other "seasonings" to add to your bag before popping - ranch dressing powder is a yummy one!

Now go watch a movie and enjoy some popcorn!

Almost Perfect

It's a sad evening in the Lewis household as the Patriots' (almost) perfect season came to an end by losing to the Giants in the Superbowl. An upset indeed. :(
