Lookout Farm

I took Zoe to Lookout Farm this morning to pick Ginger Gold apples, peaches and plums. We had a nice time but it was really hot.....and being 38 weeks pregnant wasn't keeping me any cooler either. But like I said, we had fun and I really appreciated the mother/daughter day with Zoe.

Highlights of the morning: The train to the orchards was a favorite of Zoe's and mine, too since I got to sit; picking the fruit off the trees; running through the maze; seeing the farm animals....Zoe liked the donkeys this time; and getting back in the air conditioned car.

And of course here are some photos (click on the link and the password is "guest"): Pics from Lookout Farm

38 Week Prenatal Check

Hi all,

I had my 38 week check-in today with the midwife. No dialation but baby is super low and head down. She said not to be discouraged by the no dialation. I'm not - she'll come when she's ready. Anywho....I'm feeling really good physically and mentally and looking forward to meeting this little one soon. I'll keep you all posted.

Nicole's Birthday

Yesterday we celebrated my 33rd birthday! It was such a nice day with lots of little surprises. Steven woke up with Zoe and I got to sleep in (YAHOO!!!). Then when I finally made it downstairs Steven made me French toast. Yummy!

I received many birthday wishes via cards, e-cards and phone calls. Thank you everyone for thinking of me. I felt very loved!

I took Zoe down to the cottage and the Lewis Family provided a cake and little birthday celebration for me there. I have a very thoughtful and loving in-law family!

We left Zoe down at the cottage with Steven's parents for an overnight. Steven took me out to dinner in Cambridge to a favorite restaurant called Rialto. It was DELICIOUS and romantic! I really enjoyed my date with my hubby. Steven gave me another class to the Nikon school and some Nikon software that I've been wanting. The funny thing is that he printed the class description and software out on paper then put it in an envelope. At the end of the evening I had to use the ladies room and carried my little hand purse and card and gift envelope into the bathroom with me. There was no place to set the card and envelope down so I held them in my mouth with my teeth. A second later the envelope with the the gift description fell into the toilet. I started cracking up. Luckily, it wasn't the real thing and was able to toss the envelope away. I'm also glad that I didn't drop the beautiful card Steven gave me into the toilet. Then we came home and watched the Patriots pre-season game (no really, I like doing this) and then got to sleep in again this morning since Zoe was down at Nana & "Wapa's" house.

We are headed down to the cottage in about 30 minutes or so to pick up Zoe and enjoy the beach. It's a hot one here - 95+ with high humidity so it's a perfect beach day. Gotta get in those last few days of summer!

Other news....no baby progress to report at this time, except that she is in position still and seems to be staying there. My feeling is that the baby will come around my due date (9/14) and I'm feeling fine about it.

Zoe is starting her cooking class (called Munch n Crunch) in a couple weeks and we're signing her up for ballet in October. She's been asking to do that again so we'll give it another whirl.

Steven's been busy this past week getting my bathroom done. It's coming along and will probably finish it in the next couple days. What a handy, super hubby he is!!!!

Also, here are a couple pics of Zoe napping in her tent in the playroom. The bathroom Steven's been working on is right across the hallway from Zoe's bedroom so one day last week we had her nap downstairs in the playroom so he wouldn't wake her up with the banging. She was so cute in her tent. Enjoy!

35/36 Week Prenatal Appointment

I had my prenatal appointment today. I'm almost 36 weeks along and will be heading to the midwife/ob office every week from here on out. The midwife checked to see where the baby is and guess what?!?! She's head down and already in my pelvis!!! Yikes! But no dialation whatsoever so it doesn't look like anything's going to "happen" this week.

The picture is of me and Zoe (duh) on Friday. Steven took it before we had a date night out. We went to a local restaurant, Chiara and had a nice time together. We should do this more often!
Nothing else too exciting to report at this point. So I'll sign off for now.
Stay tuned....

July Update & Photos

I just wanted to write an update for the past couple weeks. Hey, I'm getting better - at least months haven't gone by this time.

Anywho...we've lots of things to fill you all in on. No, I haven't had the baby yet but we are coming to the end. At my last appointment they checked me and my midwife said baby is low and head down - YAHOOO!!! Zoe was breech so we are looking good for a VBAC at this point! I'm feeling good but at that uncomfortable point where getting around, up and down is harder. I sit a lot and take naps when I can.

We celebrated some birthdays recently: Steven's Dad's birthday and niece, Leslie. Leslie hit the big 13 this year! I can't believe it - she was just 6 when I met her. We enjoyed celebrating both events with the Lewis clan and here are the photos to prove it (password is "guest"):

My mom came to visit last week. We had such a lovely visit. Wednesday, we went shopping for fabric for the slings and cover that my mom is making. Thursday we got Zoe's haircut (it's VERY cute) and ran errands and Friday we had lunch down in Mattapoisett at the Lewis beach cottage. Steven's mom, Maureen, had a wonderful lunch for us and we spent the rest of the afternoon playing at the beach. On Saturday morning/afternoon, my mom hosted a Mother Blessing at our house to celebrate the upcoming arrival of Baby #2. Traditionally a Mother Blessing is a way to wish the mother-to-be blessings for a positive labor and delivery. My Mother Blessings was a casual gathering of some of my female friends and family. We asked everyone to bring three beads: one for me, one for Zoe and one for the new baby. Each bead was used to make a necklace and each person presented their beads along with a blessing, prayer or well wish. It was truly a special day and I had such a great time. We all laughed a lot and told lots of great stories. Brunch was served, too and delicious! I appreciate everyone's (including those of you who couldn't be there in person) blessings on our family. Here are some pictures from the day (thank you, Crisann!) and some from my mom's visit (password is "guest"):

Zoe has also been transitioning very well into her new preschool room. All the older girls in her class (it's a mixed aged group) have taken her under their wings and love playing with her. Steven and I also noticed the other day Zoe saying to her baby doll, Chloe, "Chloe, you POPPED out of my tummy" and then continued to explain to her about a spaceship coming down, too. Ahhh, the mind of a three year old. At least she's processing the new baby's arrival.

So I think that's about it for now. Love to you all.
