Christmas '06 & New Year's '07

Wow, it's been awhile since I last posted. It's been a busy time! Here's an update:

We had a great time in Phoenix, AZ at Nonna & Papa's house this Christmas. Surprisingly, it was pretty cool for AZ this time of year (no suntans this time). There were even a few days that Boston was warmer than Phoenix!

Zoe and I arrived a few days earlier to spend some time with my Dad & Shella. It was nice to relax with them and Zoe especially loved playing with Cinnamon (the dog). We also got to see my Unlce Joe and his wife, Starr and three children, Daniel, Melissa & Joshua. I haven't seen them in 6 years and Steven & Zoe had never met them!

Steven, Zoe and I headed to the zoo one day and saw lots of neat animals. On Christmas Eve, Shella's family came over for a DELICIOUS Mexican feast and then came over again on Christmas Day for turkey and family time. Unfortunately, Shella's mother (Mema) was still recovering and was unable to join us (Mema suffered a heart attack early Decemeber). She was surely missed.

Steven, Zoe and I came home the day after Christmas and saw that Santa had visited our house, tii! So on Wednesday, the three of us had our Christmas at home.

New Year's Eve, we spent at home playing Scrabble. New Year's Day we celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary by going out to dinner in Boston and Zoe got to spend the time with her cousin, Christopher. Those two have a great time together!

And of course, click here or photos from the last few weeks. We are now getting back into the swing of things. Happy New Year!

2006 Christmas Letter

Dear Family & Friends,
We hope 2006 brought you many blessings and happiness! It was a busy one for us and here are some of the highlights we had throughout the year.
In March, we welcomed a new member to the Lewis Family. Owen was born to Mark (Steven's brother) and his wife Jill. We also welcomed my sister, Crisann to Boston. She made a big move from Tucson to the cold Northeast! We all warned her that she was crazy to leave such warmth but she has adjusted well so far and loves being a city girl. She recently started a new job at Harvard Medical School (she's following in her sister's footsteps - wink wink).
We also did a little traveling throughout 2006. In April, we visited my Dad, Shella & Carly in Phoenix, AZ. In May, we visited the Los Angeles area where we saw my grandmother, aunt, uncle and cousins and then headed to San Francisco. There we got to visit our great friends Noelle & Reed. In September we visited my hometown of San Diego and in October I took a girlfriend's spa trip to Georgia. AHHH, so nice!
This summer Steven tackled one of our biggest house projects - THE KITCHEN! Amazingly, he did the majority of it in one week (what a machine he is) and we now have a very well functioning, up-to-date, beautiful kitchen. Photos to come soon so keep checking the blog.
In November, Zoe started preschool. So far she loves it and her teachers adore having her in the classroom. Some of Zoe's other milestones this year: tackling and succeeding in potty training (she even asks for privacy now), becoming very independent, talking up a storm, learning to count to fourteen, learning colors and making up songs. She is very much looking forward to the holiday and can't wait to make her first real snowman.
As for me, I'm keeping busy with being a mom, wife, photographer and working part-time. Zoe and I have been taking a cooking class together (geared for 2-3 year olds) and we're hoping to take a Spanish class next year through my place of work. Nicole Lewis Photography is going well, too. I have been getting some great opportunities to photograph moms-to-be, babies and children and this summer I even shot two weddings (one being Mark & Jill's wedding)! I also have some examples of my work hanging in all three centers of Isis Maternity (where I work part-time).
This year for Christmas, we are headed to the warmth of Phoenix, AZ to celebrate the season with my father's side of the family. Although we will miss the Lewis side this year, we are excited to share this time with the Pignatiellos.
We hope this holiday season is also a special one for you and your families. And we wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2007!
Love,
the Medfield Lewises
